Sophia Summers (she/her) is a Brisbane/Meanjin based artist on Turrbal and Yagara land. Summers is currently using a transdisciplinary practice through painting, poetry, sculpture, weaving practices and video-based mediums. Summers is currently studying for a Bachelor of Fine Arts, Visual Arts at the Queensland University of Technology. Their artistic practices centres around complex emotions and finding places within society while also questioning societal constructs. Summers is now creating a large-scale work called Sanctuary for the Green Heart Fair. This work aims to spark creativity in its viewers and offers people a chance to create their structure. This is in hopes of raising awareness about Green Waste and the need to plant native plants. They hope to give people a chance to connect and find Sanctuary in the parklands.
